the ceramic experience “Sheer Pottery!” opens in Marchmont, Edinburgh

The award-winning ‘ceramic experience’ has opened a new site – it’s tenth in five years - in Edinburghs Marchmont area. Styled as a “High Street” version of the existing ceramic experience paint-your-own-pottery studios, the Sheer Pottery café is aimed at Marchmont locals, students, and anyone interested in painting their own ceramics, or just relaxing with a coffee and the best carrot cake in town.

Founder of the ceramic experience, Edinburgh based entrepreneur Anna St Clair has lately been appearing in the Discovery Channel TV series “Ladies Who Launch”, dedicated to women in business. The chain of painting studios, now 10 strong, recently won the Federation of Small Businesses “Scottish Small Business Champion Of The Year” award. “I’m delighted to have opened my tenth site, especially as we have just won the FSB award. Sheer Pottery is a bit of a change for us. Our site in Ocean Drive, Leith, is still our primary outlet in Edinburgh, but the object remains the same - for people of all ages to come and paint with us, relax, have fun, and surprise themselves with their own creativity. There’s no studio charge or hidden costs – you just choose an object from our vast range, and paint it any way you like. We’ll offer help if it’s needed, glaze and fire it, and you collect your masterpiece a day or so later”.

“Christmas decorations and presents for the family are always the most popular items at this time of year” says Anna. “A lot of babies are keen on giving grandparents imprints or framed models of their hands or feet – with a little help from Mum and Dad, of course.”
